MEANEST MACHINE EVER!
All hail the ridiculous: absurdity’s inbred, drunken, paint-huffing country cousin. During a conversation I had not long ago with prolific horror/sci-fi journalist John Kenneth Muir (Horror Films of the 1980s), he observed that, “To be a horror fan, you have to at some point be willing to embrace the ridiculous.” Muir might easily have been referring to any horror film ever made, but as it happened, we were discussing The Car. “Because,” he concluded, “if you can’t embrace the ridiculousness of The Car, you can’t enjoy it.” Amen, Brother Muir.
