Back in the late 1960s, kids across North America would rush home from school to catch the hit gothic afternoon soap opera Dark Shadows. Created by iconic director and producer Dan Curtis, the show featured ghosts, witches, warlocks, and werewolves, and was headlined by a sympathetic 175-year-old vampire named Barnabas Collins (played by Canadian stage actor Jonathan Frid). After a rocky first year on the air, the show became wildly successful and spawned a crypt full of merchandise, including trading cards, plastic model kits, paperback novels, comic books, puzzles, a music box, a Halloween costume, and a soundtrack album of composer Robert Cobert’s memorable score.
